Mickey Oliver’s “Never Let Go” receives a fresh club-focused remix from Marvin Acosta, one of Chicago’s fast-growing house music producers. The new version gives the timeless track a modern edge while honoring Oliver’s influential contribution to the development of Chicago house music.
Known as Mickey “Mixin’” Oliver, Oliver was one of the pioneers behind the city’s legendary house music movement. He was also a member of the celebrated WBMX Hot Mix 5, the Chicago DJ crew whose mixes helped introduce house music to a much wider audience.
The remix represents a meeting of generations: Oliver’s historic Chicago sound connected with Acosta’s contemporary production style and today’s dance-floor energy. Acosta describes the opportunity as a great honor, paying tribute to a timeless classic and one of house music’s most important figures.
Oliver and the Hot Mix 5—Ralphi Rosario, Farley “Jackmaster” Funk, Mickey “Mixin’” Oliver, Scott “Smokin’” Silz, and Kenny “Jammin’” Jason—are scheduled to be inducted into the Illinois Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The ceremony will take place Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park, Chicago, as part of the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66’s fifth annual induction ceremony.
